In Breton, the construction of a so-called "existential" statement clearly involves the verb bezañ "to be" in its two forms zo and eus (avel a zo ; n’eus ket avel: "there is wind; there is no wind"). We must then ask ourselves what is the singularity of this construction in relation to the rest of the syntax of this verb, and in relation to the syntactic links that integrate all the verbs. We will argue that if we accept to reason from a strict syntactic point of view, these forms mark a subject-syntagm, whose definition is valid for all verbs, including bezañ, and that the particularity of this context is due to the verb bezañ and to the obligation of an indefinite trait.
