Background: Pogostemon cablin belongs to the Lamiaceae family is an aromatic herb having immense commercial importance; is due to its oil (patchouli oil), which can be obtained by steam/hydro-distillation technique of the shade dried leaves. Objective: This study was to compare the chemical composition and the antioxidant activities of patchouli oils extracted from P.cablin leaf that cultivated in 2 (two) different regions are Cibinong (A) and Batu (B) in Java Island, Indonesia. Methods: The chemical composition of the essential oil was analyzed by GC/MS method, and the antioxidant activities were determined by evaluating their scavenging activities against DPPH. Result: The major components of patchouli oil from Cibinong (A) have been identified as the patchouli alcohol 18.12% and gamma-curcumene 35.07%, whereas patchouli oil from Batu (B) were 26.31% and 34.79%, for patchouli alcohol and gamma-curcumene respectively. The antioxidant activities were found for patchouli oil from Cibinong and Batu, IC50=22.45
