Informe Olivi sobre una teoría acerca de las razones reales esenciales

This note discusses a metaphysical thesis circulating during the years of Ramon Llull's literary production and reported by Pere Joan Olivi. The first part offers biographical information, especially regarding his presence in Montpellier and in the south of France. Mention is made of his opinion concerning studies on and the use of philosophy, on the basis of which a reading of certain passages of his is proposed. The central portion of the note comments on the opinion discussed by Olivi concerning the metaphysical constitution of beings and which establishes the presence of «razones reales essenciales» in a decidedly dynamic vision of being. Special mention is made of the theological arguments which, according to Olivi, were maintained by the defenders of this thesis.
