и Betonica bulgarica Degen & Nejč. B. bulgarica – Betonica officinalis.
The purpose of the present work is for a phytochemical, biological and molecular genetic study of the endemic plants Micromeria frivaldszkyana (Degen) Velen. and Betonica bulgarica Degen & Nejč. from Nature park “Bulgarka” to be done and for the possibility of their usage as phytopreparations to be outlined through in vitro methods. The microelement analysis conducted via ICP-MS showed that these plants could be a beneficial source of manganese and iron. A very high content of rosemary acid was found in M. frivaldszkyana. A specific antitumor effect of M. frivaldszkyana and B. bulgarica extracts on cervical carcinoma cells has been established, which makes them a potential source of medical products for prevention and treatment of some types of cancer. The B. bulgarica extracts have a selective inhibitory action against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Penicillium chrysogenum и Aspergillus niger. The extracts of all studied species possess antioxidant and antibacterial potential against Bacillus cereus and Listeria monocytogenes. The antiviral activity of M. frivaldszkyana and B. bulgarica against herpes simplex virus has been proven. The molecular genetic analysis by ITS and tRNAleu markers showed a high identity between the sequences of the species M. frivaldszkyana – Clinopodium vulgare and B. bulgarica – Betonica officinalis.
