Every time the U.S. forces engage in conflict, our potential adversaries learn more about our capabilities and tactics. For example, after the first Persian Gulf war, the Chinese government, shocked by our forces' technological advantages, launched a series of ongoing reforms to modernize that nation's military. The U.S. Air Force has responded to this challenge by building a truly revolutionary fighter that is also a very capable and precise bomber, the F/A-22. The F/A-22 is a transformational aircraft. Its super-cruise engines allow for extended supersonic flight, a magnitude longer than its after-burner predecessors. Using stealth capabilities, the F/A-22 is able to penetrate an opponent's airspace and engage enemy aircraft at great ranges.
