The article presents an interview with Marianne Weber, widow of the famous sociologist. Frau Weber. In the spring of 1945, shortly after the American entry into Heidelberg, the writer, then a field operative for the office of Strategic Services, found occasion to interview Marianne Weber, widow of the famous sociologist. Frau Weber not only wrote an outstanding biography of her husband. "Max Weber: Ein Lebensbild," but has also written her autobiography, "Erfulltes Leben and Lebenserrinerungen." The interview was written down within an hour after it took place. No notes were made, but the writer had trained himself to the point where almost verbatim reproduction of short interviews had become possible, and two of his aides had been present and could therefore assist in the task of recall. During the whole time of the Nazi tyranny She managed to keep together a group of people holding opinions like her own, and every Sunday afternoon, as well as on other occasions, they had meeting for discussion of matters vitally important to them. They did not, however, directly deal with political matters; they restricted themselves to philosophical, religious, and esthetic topics, making their criticism of the Nazi system between the lines, as it were. None of them were of the stuff of which martyrs are made.
