The article presents a study on characterization of CALR gene in comparison with JAK2 gene which causes essential thrombocythaemia (ET). The authors state that the study was conducted in a group of ET patients and all genotyping methods were performed on peripheral blood leucocytes DNA of the patients. The authors mention that ET patients with CALR-mutated genes manifest distinct phenotypes such as higher platelet count which are different from those with JAK2-mutated ET.
