The article presents a case study of a four-and-a-half year-old female who was suffering from urinary tract infections associated with a thrombocytosis. The study reveals that essential thrombocythaemia (ET) is a prenatal origin. It informs that presence of the Janus Kinase 2 (JAK2) V617F in ET indicates the retrospective demonstration of the mutation at the time of birth.
