The article focuses on a study done on the involvement of the multifunctional protein GAGA in the formation of chorionic dorsal appendages (DA) during oogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster (D. melanogaster). It states that the Trithorax-like (Trl) gene of D. melanogaster encodes the GAGA protein which regulates the expression of Drosophila genes, and Trl mutant females are characterized by reduced fertility and disturbances in length, morphology and position of chorionic DA.
