Effect of complex plant essential oil on growth performance and immune indexes of carp.

The experiment was to study the effect of complex plant essential oil on growth performance and immune indexes of carp. A total of 360 healthy carp with weight (182.61±3.01) g and body length (21.90±0.60) cm were randomly divided into four groups, with three replicates in each group and 30 carp in each replicate. Carp in control group, test group 1, test group 2 and test group 3 were fed with compound diets containing 0, 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg complex plant essential oil, respectively. The pre-test lasted for 14 d, and the formal test lasted for 45 d. The results showed that compared with control group, the final weight, WGR and SGR of carp in all groups were significantly increased (P<0.05), and the feed coefficient was significantly decreased (P<0.05), and WGR and SGR of carp in 400 mg/kg group were increased the most. The content of TP and ALB in serum of carp in test group 2 were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05), and the activity of T-SOD was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The activity of AKP and AST in serum of carp in test group 3 were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05). The study indicates that adding complex plant essential oil to carp feed can improve growth performance and enhance immune function, and the suitable amount is 200 mg/kg. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
