Hence, I H. griffithianum i rhizome essential oil can be used as a potential source of 1,8-cineole for applications in pharmaceutical industries. A recent analysis of the I H. puerense i rhizome essential oil showed linalool, -pinene, -terpinene, terpinen-4-ol, and -pinene as the major constituents [[14]]. The rhizome essential oil was exceptionally rich in 1,8-cineole, which is known for its mucolytic and spasmolytic effects on the respiratory tract and therapeutic potential in inflammatory respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) [[15]].
