Chemical Composition and Antioxidant Activity of the Leaf Essential Oil of Cryptocarya amygdalina.

Previous studies have shown that leaf essential oil of I Cryptocarya mandioccana i , I C. impressa i , and I C. infectoria i was also characterized by high sesquiterpene hydrocarbons [[13]]. The antioxidant activity of the I C. amygdalina i leaf essential oil was determined I in vitro i using two methods based on the radical scavenging activity namely, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6- sulfonic acid (ABTS) assay. The leaf essential oil of I C. amygdalina i is principally composed of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (72.01%), followed by oxygenated sesquiterpenes (13.67%), oxygenated monoterpenes (3.05%), and monoterpene hydrocarbons (1.61%) (Table 1).
